Woodworking in The 1940s

Please SUBSCRIBE if you like our videos! They sure don’t make ‘em like they used to, and here’s where you’ll find out why. OUTSTANDING footage of home construction in the 1940s. The first two things to notice about home building is a) how much hardwood was used, and b) how many people were employed. It’s interesting to see an entire house being sheathed in heavy planks instead of Celotex, and to watch men using hammers instead of nail guns. And although there is already prefabrication of elements like windows and doors, there is still on-site construction of kitchen storage units by skilled carpenters. Getting back to the point of the film, the first half uses the house under construction to demonstrate the difference between rough (basement joists and cross ties) and fine (windows, doors and cabinets) carpentry, and then goes on to show how other woodworking jobs exist in factories supplying the construction trade. Apr 30th, 2011 by admin

Sometimes homeowners need a little time for themselves. They can choose to go on vacation and travel far to see and experience the beauty of nature. While this is something they can accomplish, they couldn’t do so on a daily or weekly basis. It would be impractical and costly to embark on such outdoor adventures. A cheap yet worthwhile alternative is to transform the backyard and furnish it with outdoor patio furniture.
Taking inspiration from their favorite vacation spots, homeowners can recreate a setting that can remind them highly of these favored places. During their vacation trips, homeowners surely have spent some time lounging out and admiring the view. Though the scene at home may only be surrounded by shrubs, flowers and trees, this wouldn’t matter. What is important is the comfort and fun they get from their outdoor patio furniture.
Homeowners can simply close their eyes and be transported to their favorite hang-out destinations. This is the quickest and most affordable way they can get some fun and relaxation. They don’t even have to wait for weekends because they can de-stress even in the middle of the week. Homeowners are not required to make frequent travel plans anymore. When they feel tired and weary, all they have to do is muster some strength to step out into the yard. There they can sit back and relax and enjoy some quiet time.
Mimicking their favorite vacation places is easy. There are plenty of designs and styles in outdoor patio furniture that they can buy. Surely, there is something that looks almost or exactly like the one they used to sit on their favorite resorts or trip destinations. They can also opt to create their own dream spot at home. It would be a great way for homeowners to unleash their creative side.
